Pivot 1.5 Cal provides very high protein (93.8 grams per liter, 25% of calories) to support protein synthesis, tissue repair and wound healing. Pivot 1.5 Cal has a high concentration of calories for fluid-restricted patients (1½ calories per mL). Arginine (13 grams per liter, 3.5% of calories) supports proliferation and function of immune cells. Glutamine (7.6 grams per liter) is included for gastrointestinal-tract integrity and energy for immune cells. Omega-3 fatty acids (eicosapentaenoic acid [EPA], 2.6 grams per liter; docosahexaenoic acid [DHA], 1.1 grams per liter) are in Pivot 1.5 Cal to modulate inflammation and support immune function. Advanced blend of hydrolyzed protein, structured lipid, and prebiotics (NutraFlora® short-chain fructo-oligosaccharides) promote absorption and tolerance Hydrolyzed, peptide-based protein system; medium-chain triglycerides (MCT) and fish oil structured lipid, a well-tolerated and absorbed next generation fat also promote absorption of fatty acids. Elevated antioxidants vitamins C and E, selenium and beta carotene help reduce tissue and cell damage due to oxidative stress. 8-ounce carton of peptide-based, high-protein, therapeutic nutrition for metabolic stress can be used in tube feeding.
